Two weeks of the new school year have now past, I am delighted to have observed some great teaching practice and methods learnt from last year.
The new methods of phonics have continued in most of the Grade Classes. Teachers are still recognizing the importance of phonics and using a variety of methods to engage learners:
Using bottles for blending words
Group work and using mini chalkboards/carboard in Sesotho phonic lessons
Team teaching and active learning through wordsearches, home made reading board games and dominoes.
I have seen teachers transferring these methods from English lessons to other areas of their curriculum. Well done Phahameng, you are making me proud.
