Teach in Lesotho

The Lesotho Teacher Placement Programme offers you a fantastic opportunity to work in the mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho, in Southern Africa, and share your experiences with schools in Wales.

The programme is open to newly qualified or experienced teachers who are living or were trained in Wales, and who will be returning to work in Welsh schools.

For five and a half months you will be supporting identified schools in the district of Thaba Tseka to make positive and sustainable improvements to their learning and teaching by delivering teaching programmes, workshops to students at the Lesotho College of Education and working with other Educational Professionals to promote best practice.

On your return you will spend two weeks in Wales sharing what you have learned with schools and teachers, and developing Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship resources.

This programme provides a unique professional development opportunity and a great adventure!

You will need to be flexible; adaptable; self-aware; committed to learning and making a difference, and open to the challenge of living and working in a developing country. You will share your teaching skills and knowledge with your colleagues in Lesotho, but you will also need to adapt to a different culture and way of working.

All teachers on the LTPP programme are volunteers but will receive a stipend of £640 per month for the time they are on the programme

There may be an opportunity for a more experienced teacher to act as MENTOR and work with our Education Officer to co-ordinate the programme.  The mentor will receive an enhanced stipend to reflect this extra responsibility.
