In the foothills of the Maluti mountains there is a remarkable community founded by disabled people and people living with HIV/AIDS. It is called Phelisanong which means 'together we work for life' in Sesotho. The community provides a home and a school for disabled children and orphans along with a garden and three fruit orchards which provide food and income for the orphans and those on the HIV/AIDS programme.
Advice and training on bee-keeping have been provided by a participant on the International Learning Opportunities (ILO) programme, and this work is now being developed with the local community, together with a small agricultural project.
